The Challenge

The International AIDS Society (IAS) had created a powerful Excel-based tool to help countries assess HIV-related stigma in healthcare settings. While packed with insights, it was hard to use—especially for busy policymakers and health workers. To make a real difference, the tool needed to be easier to understand, more engaging, and accessible worldwide. That’s where First Media stepped in.

We teamed up with IAS to turn their complex Excel tool into something clear, user-friendly, and visually appealing. We simplified the interface and improved navigation, keeping the tool’s full functionality while making it far easier to use and understand.

The Solution

To boost engagement and learning, we designed three infographics: one on the tool’s value from a political and funding angle, another with a step-by-step guide, and a third answering  common questions.

To drive action, we created a powerful animation using continuous line art with simple, inclusive characters. This style helped the visuals feel relatable across cultures, encouraging  more countries to get involved.

We also made sure language wasn’t a barrier. The tool, infographics, and animation were all translated and voiced in multiple languages, ensuring everyone could access and benefit from the content.

The Results

The redesigned tool quickly gained traction. Stakeholders found it easier to use, leading to faster decisions and stronger action plans to tackle stigma. With multilingual support and clear visuals, adoption spread across regions. Most importantly, the tool helped track progress—pushing leaders to stay accountable and keep stigma reduction on the agenda.

First Media’s expertise in digital learning and design helped IAS turn a complex tool into a globally impactful resource. By focusing on clarity, storytelling, and accessibility, we helped spark action in the global fight against HIV-related stigma.
