eLearning for Veterinary Receptionists

The Challenge
Veterinary receptionists play a critical role, yet structured training tailored to their unique responsibilities is often lacking. BVRA set out to change that by offering accessible, high-quality learning that not only covered industry knowledge but also supported receptionists in building confidence and practical skills for their day-to-day role.
The content needed to be easy to use on any device, visually engaging and professional, grounded in real-world practice, and suitable for inclusion in a broader training programme.

The Solution
The First Media team created a suite of three interactive modules using Articulate Rise. These covered everything from the structure of the veterinary industry to effective client communication, giving receptionists a well-rounded understanding of their field and their contribution to a successful practice.
Each module was designed to work both independently and as part of BVRA’s wider Foundation Course. With mobile and desktop compatibility, receptionists could learn in a way that fit seamlessly into their busy schedules.
Stylish and Professional
To give the modules a warm, welcoming, and credible feel, the First Media team combined clean, modern layouts with conceptual animal illustrations and real veterinary photography and video.
This thoughtful design ensured the learning experience was not only professional but also relatable and enjoyable.

The Result
Interactivity was built into every page to keep learners engaged and help them consolidate their knowledge. Activities like drag-and-drop challenges and self-reflection questions encouraged learners to connect the content directly to their own roles, prompting them to consider how things are done in their practice and how they might improve outcomes for clients and colleagues.
The finished modules are now a key part of BVRA’s Foundation Course offering. Practices can purchase them to support their reception teams, and early feedback has shown that the modules are helping learners feel more confident, informed, and empowered in their roles. The collaboration with First Media has resulted in a practical, professional learning experience that’s making a real difference in veterinary practices across the UK.

"This was our first time working with First Media and it was a breeze. The team made it very easy to turn our content into a more interactive, engaging piece that our learners are really enjoying. Each member of the team was patient and responsive to our needs. This was the first time we'd used this sort of system on our Learning Management System so there were a few learning curves and tweaks that needed making but First Media were there to offer ongoing support and advice throughout."
