eLearning for Hospitality


The Challenge
Act-Clean, a leading provider in London’s hospitality sector, has always placed a strong emphasis on employee safety and well-being.
With a diverse workforce, many of whom speak English as a second language, the company recognised the need for a modern, inclusive, and effective approach to health and safety training. Traditional face-to-face sessions were no longer sufficient or scalable. Act-Clean required a digital training solution that would deliver consistent, high-quality education across its workforce—while also meeting compliance standards. Additionally, they needed a Learning Management System (LMS) to host the training and integrate with their existing Greyridge HR software.


The Solution
To meet Act-Clean’s objectives, First Media developed a comprehensive and interactive eLearning course, hosted on our very own FirstPlace LMS. The training was carefully designed to be accessible for employees with limited English language skills, featuring clear visuals, intuitive navigation, engaging animations, and voiceovers to support understanding.
We created five fully interactive Storyline modules, each filled with hands-on activities and assessments to reinforce learning. The content was translated into five different languages to reflect the diversity of Act-Clean’s workforce. We also made sure the training reflected Act-Clean’s brand and values by using real imagery of their staff in the workplace, creating an authentic and relatable experience.
A key part of the project was the seamless integration with Act-Clean's existing Greyridge HR software. This allowed for smooth data sharing and simplified training management. We started by transforming their existing Health & Safety Sheets into engaging, easy-to-follow digital modules. Each one included scenario-based questions and required a passing score before employees could begin work. With FirstPlace LMS in place, Act-Clean could easily track progress, manage compliance, and continuously monitor the effectiveness of the training.
The Results
The final result was a robust and user-friendly digital training programme that made a real difference to Act-Clean’s day-to-day operations. Staff found the interactive modules much more engaging and easier to understand than traditional training sessions. The use of multiple languages and visual elements meant that everyone, no matter their background, could access and benefit from the training.
The integration with their Greyridge HR system made onboarding and compliance smoother, with real-time tracking and reporting helping to keep everything up to date. Feedback from both employees and management has been incredibly positive, with many highlighting how easy the training is to use and how much more confident they feel in their roles as a result.
