We caught up with our Project Manager to see what she's been up to during Lockdown.
Jack is our new AV Technician, with a background in theatre and performing arts he brings with him over 15 years’ experience of design, lighting and audio technology.
“Alongside other roles I have worked as principal examiner for AS Music Technology. This involves setting and marking coursework for Sound Technicians in training across the country. I have just received an award in recognition of my services!”
As a musician and trained actor, as well as being technically minded, Jack takes a creative approach to lighting and sound with a clear understanding of how to make ideas work. Outside of work he keeps himself busy.
“My three children and two dogs make sure of that! I am chair of a Scout Group as well as being a member of Scout Active Support, helping to support over 1000 local scouts with a wide range of adventurous activities. I particularly enjoy camping and bush craft. There’s nothing better than being able to get away from everyday life, sitting in a field with no WiFi. I also met my wife through Scouting!”
Jack also enjoys amateur theatre and is currently appearing in Pantomime at the Caxton Theatre in Grimsby. The Pantomime this year is Treasure Island, a gag-filled swashbuckling adventure ‘loosely’ based on the classic novel. Jack is playing Barnacle Bill the Barman at The Admiral Benbow Inn.
As if this doesn’t keep him busy enough, Jack is passionate about music and has composed the score for four musicals with writer Andy Evans. Their shows have toured the country, including a short run at the Edinburgh festival!
Within his new role here at First Media Jack hopes to support the team in their ongoing development of creative edge conferences and events…
“I want to build on the fun element. I want to bring together the different areas of experience I have in recording studio work, Pantomime, teaching and technical theatre to find new ways to engage and excite the audience…I am looking forward to 2018 and really getting my teeth into some events.”
As a ‘big kid at heart’ Jack is looking forward to Christmas and to spending quality time with his family.
