St Andrew's Hospice and Andy's have now launched their new website following a £6.5 million redevelopment project to enhance their care facilities in Grimsby.

The launch of the new website coincided with Children’s Hospice Week 2016 celebrating the invaluable work of hospices throughout the UK. This year the theme was ‘time to put families first’ something St Andrew's goes above and beyond to do. The Hospice based in Peaks Lane Grimsby deliver free palliative care for children (Andy’s) and adults (St Andrew's) with any progressive life-limiting illness. They create a home from home environment which gives families time to be together and enjoy activities they may not otherwise have been able to do.

With the redevelopment complete, St Andrew's Grimsby felt it was time to rebrand to effectively reflect the new and improved services and facilities on offer. They needed a web design that represented this change. Lucy Wood, Communications and Team Manager, St Andrew's commented;

“Technology moves at such a fast pace, that although our website was only about five years old, it looked outdated. Similarly, the hospice movement is constantly evolving. Over the last two years, we have been redeveloping our site in Peaks Lane, Grimsby, in a £6.5-million project; the largest project since the children’s unit was built 15 years ago. We have not only a brand new facility in the heart of the community, but also a new look/brand to go with it.”

Charities face similar issues to most businesses, to continue their work they need to generate income. For St Andrews this is achieved through donations, fundraising events and sales from their charity shops. The principles of web design are also the same, a website is often the first port of call for information therefore it plays an important role for any organisation, Lucy continued,

“Our website is a shop front for our services, and like any high street shop front, it should be as attractive as possible. The newly designed website has incorporated our new brand, fresh look and upbeat approach to what we do here. It’s the first place to go to for simple, clean information about how to get involved or if you need our services.”

 First Media were pleased to be selected to design and develop the site. The objectives were to;

  • bring the website into line with the new brand
  • simplify the user journey, that’s everything from navigation to a clean design
  • reflect the fun and happy times the hospice provides for families in their care
  • be a trustworthy source of information for those seeking help or to get involved with the charity
  • represent the new modern facilities

 Shane Traill, Director here at First Media commented,

St Andrews 2“The hospice provides an outstanding level of service for the local community and we’re pleased be supporting them with the launch of a new website. The main focus for the design was to create a seamless user experience for all visitors by incorporating the Adult and Children’s hospice into a single website. This has come together really well and we hope that the new design will help to increase fundraising and donations for the hospice.”

Lucy added that she has enjoyed working with the team at First Media and described their input as “invaluable” with a friendly and professional approach.
