Summer is always a particularly busy time for our events department, with a large number of our clients choosing to hold their conference, meeting or awards celebration while the weather is fine. For our friends in the sports industry, especially The Football Association, who have been long-time users of our Audio Visual (AV) and even production services, it’s preferable to arrange their workforce and training events out-of-season.
We have been on the go all summer, supplying a range of events services to our clients, see what we have been up to, who we helped and how we did it…
St Andrew’s Hospice Awards Ceremony
Our events season kicked off with an awards ceremony for a local charity, St Andrew’s Hospice. Our long-standing relationship with the charity ranges from providing printed banners and graphics to designing and maintaining their website that we recently relaunched. The awards event saw staff and volunteers at the Hospice recognised for their efforts over the past year and no less than 72 honours were handed out. Our events team provided the staging and backdrop along with audio visual support to ensure that the celebration ran smoothly.
St George’s Park- Home of Grassroots Football
The FA’s Technology Seminar
Was the first of 3 summertime trips to the home of grassroots football, St George's Park, where the Club England suite played host to The FA’s Technology Seminar. The topic of the day was the National FA Technology Strategy and we were called upon to ensure that the highest level of audio visual equipment was used, along with a supersized fully-printed backdrop and staging. We installed 4 HD LED screens and a selection of wired and wireless microphones, along with providing tech support in 3 breakout rooms where the discussions continued.
Step 7 National Leagues Conference
Our team returned to the St George’s Park, this time the Bobby Robson Ballroom for 3 days, to provide the branding, banners and audio visual support for The FA’s national conference for administrators and representatives of step 7 leagues, the foundation of grassroots football. We also supported 4 breakout rooms and managed all the presentations, including the distribution of content to the delegates to take away with them.
The FA’s Football Futures Academy
One last trip to St George’s Park remained to cap off a busy 4-week period, for The FA’s Football Futures Academy. We provided a range of branding and graphics for the 4-day event, including pop-ups, flags and A-boards amongst other large format prints that were produced for multi-purpose, from registration desk areas to photo-opportunity backdrops. For the awards evening part of the event we provide our usual audio visual support and LED curtain backdrop.
CORE - Centre of Refereeing Excellence
First Media were delighted to be selected to support the launch of CORE a new FA referee initiative On the lead up to the event we worked with the national referee managers at The FA to create the new CORE branding, designed and produced all the literature and workbooks for the CORE programme which began with the event. We also produced all the printed banners and graphics along with our usual audio visual expertise. Looking to encourage and increase engagement and interactivity, we managed a Laws of the Game quiz utilizing delegate voting keypads, and used our Catch Box to generate more energy in the discussions that followed. Following on from the event we are also producing a web-based learning portal for candidates within the CORE programme.
The Referee’s Association Annual Event
The RA’s national conference is an event that we have worked with for a number of years, over which we have seen it developed from a very formal meeting into a more dynamic learning environment for younger referees. This year, at a hotel in Coventry the event was driven completely by their Youth Council and we were invited back to provide all their branding and audio visual needs. Due to the venue’s room availability the event switched from one suite to another overnight, so our adaptable stage set was transferred in the small hours for the event to continue seamlessly.
Serviced Apartment Summit
The Serviced Apartment Summit is a leading international event for the hotel industry. We were pleased to be selected again to support the event. The event hosts collective discussion and sharing best practice. It features many high-profile guest speakers from inside and outside the hospitality sector. We were responsible for the seamless transitions between panels, microphone handovers and ensuring each presenter, facilitator and panel member was heard. We also provided a large screen with comfort monitors and simultaneous audio visual support in 2 additional breakout rooms.
