CareBlox

CareBlox is a commercial software suite produced by sister company, First Software Solutions for the Care Home industry. The web based system offers all of the tools required for operating a care home group, from those with a single home up to larger PLC groups. The software has been developed working alongside Southern Cross Healthcare, the third largest care home group in the UK and is currently used by over 2000 users in 800 locations. Other smaller organisations have also adopted CareBlox as their main software package as the suite begins to grow.

The software is entirely web based, built using ASP.NET 2.0 connecting to a secure SQL Server 2000. Other ‘widgets’ have also been incorporated into the software using AJAX and XML with Web Services running them. The web based solution has many advantages, from retrieval of live data to allowing us to implement updates without reinstalling the software locally.

The applications within the suite also link to other third party applications, such as Sage, allowing data to be seamlessly transferred. As a development of this a new E-Procurement module has been added to the suite, which allows the system to link with suppliers' sites to place orders.
